Six Years of Blogging

Today marks six years since the beginning of this little blogging experiment. It's hard to believe that I've been at it this long, but considering I just marked my 1,000th post last week, clearly I've been at this for a little while.

I don't know what fate awaits this ol' blog in the future. If I'm being honest, at times writing new posts feels more like a chore than the fun hobby it used to be. Not all the time, but sometimes. As a new mother, it's just harder to find the free time to write, and what free time I do have often gets earmarked for other things, so blogging just ends up as another item on the never-ending to-do list. Yet on the other hand, I like that having this log of our lives out there in the public domain holds me accountable and forces me to keep on posting, because I do really cherish the record of the last six years that is left here. I know that a great number of the memories I have recorded here will be ones that will stick with us for a lifetime, but some others (and even some smaller details of the big ones) otherwise would likely fade away if not for this documentation.

The last six years have been such an incredible time for Eric and me - as newlyweds, graduate students, new New Yorkers, new parents, and a lawyer-turned-teacher. When I started this blog, we were living in Washington, D.C. I had just graduated from my Masters program and Eric was wrapping up law school at Georgetown. We were preparing for our move to New York City, where Eric began his time as a lawyer. Since those early posts, we have relished living in New York City, traveled, experienced some family crises, made and strengthened friendships, worked hard, played harder, moved to Hoboken, became parents, given up the lawyer life, moved to Florida, gotten Eric's career as a teacher underway and we are now expecting a second baby. That, my friends, is one heck of a six years, and man, am I glad to have all my memories and photos of that time preserved here, in one place.

Our family has changed a bit in the last six years!

And so time will tell what path this blog takes in the coming weeks, months, and years. I hope that I can continue to keep up with it, but I'm realistic about the fact that it may not always be something I enjoy. No matter what happens, I will always be grateful for this record and I am so thankful that there are people out there who enjoy reading it, too. You help keep me motivated to keep going, and I appreciate that!

So for now, let the posts go on. Our ride isn't over yet!

I, for one, will be very sad if and when they stop, but of course I understand! I enjoy reading them so much.
