The last couple of days have felt like deja vu all over again. Today Eric and I are leaving for for our anniversary trip to the Cayman Islands. However, we've spent the last couple of days tracking Tropical Storm Fay. Naturally, this brings back memories of this time last year, when we were anxiously watching Hurricane Dean, which was threatening to hit our honeymoon destination - also the Cayman Islands - as a Category 5 storm the day after we were supposed to arrive. We ended up rushing around the day before our wedding trying to postpone our honeymoon for a week, in the hopes that the storm would pass and leave the island standing for us to visit a week later. Luckily, all worked out as it should. Hopefully, we'll be just as lucky this year!
The current predicted path has the outer edges of Fay brushing over the east side of the Caymans sometime this afternoon, before turning north and heading for Florida. Our flight leaves at 3:30p.m. As of the time of this post, there are no travel advisories being posted by Cayman Airways, so hopefully the storm either won't affect our flight path at all, or we'll be able to easily fly around it. And, hopefully it isn't too rough on Florida!
Here's hoping this works out in our favor! We can certainly stomach a little bit of wind and rain, so long as we can get there and the rest of the week clears up alright. I certainly would like to see more of this....
...than this:
Keep your fingers crossed for us!
