We made it! As of tomorrow, we will have been living in Jacksonville for a week. I'd like to do a more thorough recap of the move and what we've been up to since then, but it will have to wait. I'm not sure if you know, but it's entirely possible that moving is the worst thing that can ever happen in a person's life. Oh, the tedium. The exhaustion. The stacks and stacks of boxes, all stacked upon more boxes, and topped with piles of trash. SO. MUCH. WORK.
Actually, I generally enjoy unpacking and organizing a new home. However, this time around the going is rather slow, thanks to a little impediment named Ellie. She's cute as a button, sure, but she does not care for the idea of us ignoring her in order to get our home into some semblance of order. She will not have it, I tell you. So, most unpacking is done during naptime and after she's in bed, which means it's just taking a little longer than usual. As a result, our new apartment has been in shambles for about a week now and I'm starting to get a little twitchy.
The point of all that is that basically, recaps will have to wait because all free time is dedicated to Operation: Stop Being Twitchy. Once our house is all neat and tidy and unpacked and organized, I will rejoin the world. Until then, hand me that box cutter, I've got work to do.
But, I just wanted to update that we're here, things went as smoothly as could be expected (despite rain on moving day, because OF COURSE it would rain on moving day), and we're settling in just fine. I love the apartment, Ellie and Achilles seem happy here, and Eric is already back at work. Soon, we'll finally be in a lasting routine.
Speaking of Eric back at work, we finally have official confirmation as to what he is going to be teaching this year! It will not be Precalculus as we previously thought, but instead, he will be teaching Geometry and Algebra 1. In addition, he has been asked to be the quarterback coach for the football team! (For any who may not know, Eric played football in high school and did a little coaching at Gaineville High School while he was in college.) I've always imagined him as both a teacher and a coach, and although it would be a big time commitment, it sounds like an awesome opportunity. I'm just so excited for this new beginning.
So, for now, I'm headed back to unpacking. I'll be back up for air and updates soon (I hope), but in the meantime, I'll just leave you with this picture of all of us trying to get out and enjoy Jacksonville (despite the mounds of boxes at home), at a Jacksonville Suns game this weekend:
Stay tuned for more!
Congrats on the move girl, hope you start to get settled in soon :-)
